Fulfillment Routing Process

Assign Facilities to Orders and Pick Tickets

Overview

A Fulfillment Routing process determines how to assign Orders and Pick Tickets across Facilities. If an operation has only a single warehouse, all orders must be assigned to that facility. If there are multiple warehouses, determining how orders are assigned or split between each facility can depend on different overall priorities.

A Facility assignment is a requirement for a pick ticket to get created. Order Records can be created with an Order Process and don't receive a direct Facility assignment, but both are required for a pick ticket.
Because pick tickets are the picking objects in WOS, they can be split across facilities so a single order can have pick tickets assigned to multiple facilities.

When a pick ticket is assigned to a facility it will only allocate to that facility's inventory. The relationship of inventory to facility lives through a location. Locations are assigned to facilities so when inventory is created in the location it is also attributed to that facility.

  • Add a Name and Description
  • Select a Routing Mode
    • Single Facility - each order will be shipped out of a single facility
    • Hub and Spoke (coming soon)
    • Distributed Ship (coming soon)
  • Select a Facility Selection Strategy
    • Priority List - based purely on the Facility Priorities designated in the process
    • Most Inventory (coming soon)
    • Proximity (coming soon)
  • Determine a Minimum Facility Fill Rate - OPTIONAL
    • This value will determine what percentage of an order a facility must be able to fulfill to be considered for assignment. If a facility cannot fulfill more than the percentage specified, it is automatically removed from consideration
  • Short Rerouting Process (coming soon)
  • Set the flags below to On or Off
    • Allow Order Splitting - allows an order to be split with multiple pick tickets assigned to different facilities
    • Allow Line Splitting - allows lines on an order to be split across multiple pick tickets if needed to fulfill the order quantity
    • Prefer Complete Fulfillment - considers other factors of the process, but prioritizes a facility assignment that can completely fulfill the order
    • Auto Reroute on Short - when an item is short picked on a pick ticket, the short picked quantity will automatically attempt to reroute to another facility and create a pick ticket

The Fulfillment Routing Process is still in progress of being developed, currently this functionality is limited to using a Single Facility and using the Facility Preference to determine which Facility will be assigned.

Fulfilling from multiple Facilities and using a Routing Process to determine which to assign the pick tickets to is not currently supported. If fulfilling from multiple facilities, the fulfillment warehouse must be determined up the chain through a host system or integration.
